Back in NYC

Florida will play in Madison Square Garden next week for a shot at its first NIT Championship in school history. The trip to New York City will be the first for some Florida players, but three current freshmen have experience playing on the MSG floor. Jai Lucas, Chandler Parsons and Nick Calathes all played there as high school seniors at the Michael Jordan Classic last April. That’s 14 players for 13 scholarship slots. It has also led to rumors that at least one, if not more, of the nine current scholarship players will leave the program next season. But as of Thursday night, each player I spoke to said he intends to return … Read More »

Lanier happy for Siena

by admin

First-year Florida assistant coach Rob Lanier said he was pleased to see Siena earn an NCAA Tournament berth by winning the Metro Atlantic Association Conference Tournament title. “That’s a good young team,” said Lanier, who coached at Siena from 2001-05. “I was really happy for Tay (Senior point guard Tay Fisher.) He was a member of my last recruiting class and he’s a great kid.” When asked if it would feel weird to face Siena as a Florida … Read More »
