It’s no secret that Florida point guard Taurean Green is the engine thatmakes the Gators run.
But this weekend’s Final Four will be important for Green on a number oflevels. First and foremost, Green can create a legacy unmatched amongFlorida point guards if Florida was to repeat as champions.

Sometimes, it’s better to be heard than seen.
In Friday’s open Florida practice, the loudest of the Gator faithful bellowed chants that echoed throughout the Georgia Dome. Kind of like Randy Quaid in the movie Major League.
“What does UCLA stand for?” he yelled. “University of California Loses Again. Go Gators.”
Upon further investigation, the fan was none other than John Martin, the former Hawthorne mayor who currently serves as a city commissioner in the city. Martin …

Much has been thrown around on message boards in the Bluegrass State about Billy Donovan having a buyout clause in his contract and a specific exemption for Kentucky.
This is wrong on two accounts. There is no specific buyout clause in Donovan’s contract. In fact, the word Kentucky isn’t even mentioned in the 31-page document.
Donovan received a $300,000 loyalty bonus at the end of the regular season. Under terms of his contract, he would have to pay …

Like every other Florida basketball fan, incoming 2007 freshman Nick Calathes is anxious about the future of Florida coach Billy Donovan.
After guiding Florida to its second straight Final Four and third FinalFour in seven seasons, Donovan is rumored to be Kentucky’s top choice to replace the recently departed Tubby Smith.
Calathes accepted a verbal scholarship offer from Donovan as a sophomore in high school and signed a letter of intent to play at Florida last November. The 6-foot-5 guard from Lake …

The Arch that serves as the Gateway to the West is 63 stories high and made of 17,246 tons of stainless steel and concrete.
There is a tram you can take to the top of the arch as part of an hour-long tour. Thought about it, but worried if somehow the tram got stuck I would miss covering tonight’s game.
Below the arch is a museum commemorating westward expansion, which celebrated the unique ways settlers swindled …

How do you know when you’re a baseball town? When your police force is investigated after confiscating scalped tickets and using them in the World Series. The top story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch cited the ethical dilemma in a front-page story Wednesday. If you’re a Cardinals fan and desperate for postseason tickets next year, you might want to consider a career in law enforcement.
The nightlife in St. Louis is a stark contrast to New Orleans. Most kitchens and restaurants …

During a season filled with injuries and inconsistency, the maligned Southeastern Conference appeared on the brink of sending just four teams to the NCAA Tournament.
When Arkansas became the fifth SEC team to reach the tournament after its run to the conference title game, it opened the door for some critics who felt teams such as Syracuse, Drexel and Appalachian State were more deserving.
But so far, the SEC and Pac 10 have been the class of the …

It’s been a year-and-a-half since Hurricane Katrina, and downtown New Orleans, you can still see rings around some of the old brick buildings, marking how high the water rose. Driving from the airport to downtown on I-10, you can see stores and homes still boarded up and signs blown out.
We’re staying a block from Bourbon Street and the French Quarter is full of life. You can see the hospitality industry is trying to go the extra mile for …

In my bracket I have Florida returning to the Final Four from the Midwest,Kansas from the West, Georgetown from the East and Ohio State from theSouth (that’s three No. 1s and a No. 2 seed). Kansas will beat Florida inthe rematch of the Las Vegas Invitational at the Final Four in Atlanta.Ohio State will beat Georgetown in an entertaining battle of big men(Georgetown’s Roy Hibbert vs. Ohio State’s Greg Oden). Kansas beats OhioState for the national title, ending the curse …

Here’s a scary thought to Florida fans. Al Horford, Florida’s bruising, first-team All-SEC forward, didn’t have the Gators on his radar as a high-school sophomore. “I really wanted to go to Miami,” Horford admitted last week. Why didn’t he? Former Miami coach Perry Clark never called. Clark was on the trail of 6-foot-11 prep star C.J. Giles, who de-committed to Miami and ended up at Kansas when Clark was fired. …
