Former Gator forward Canyon Barry is making the most of his opportunity at the Portsmouth (Va.) Invitational, an annual showcase event for seniors entering the NBA draft.

The 6-fooot-6 Barry had 20 points and 12 rebounds in his first game in Portsmouth on Thursday night. Barry followed it up with another strong game on Friday, finishing with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

An NBA scout in Portsmouth, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Barry has made a strong impression through two games. Barry earned SEC sixth man of the year honors in his lone season at UF and finished second on UF in scoring at 11.4 points per game.

“He’s tough, smart, skilled,” the scout said. “He outworks most people.”
