UF assistant coaching salaries set

by

Florida has released the remaining contracts of its assistant coaches for the 2012-13 season.

John Pelphrey’s base salary will remain at $180,000, while assistant coach Matt McCall received a $40,000 raise to $140,000. New assistant coach Rashon Burno’s salary is at $120,000.

All three coaches will receive an additional $10,000 apparel bonus from Nike.

It’s a well-deserved raise for McCall, who has hustled on the recruiting circuit since being hired from FAU in April of 2011. McCall helped lay the groundwork to land a pair of 2012 signees (guard Dillon Graham and swingman DeVon Walker) and 2013 star point guard commit Kasey Hill.

Pelphrey is in the second year of a three-year buyout from his previous head coaching job at Arkansas. Under terms of the buyout, Pelphrey will make $600,000 — $180,000 from Florida and $420,000 from Arkansas.

I guess the low pay for Pelphrey is because Arkansas makes up the difference. I hope and assume Pelphrey gets a very substantial raise when his Arkansas contract runs out although I think it very likely he will be a head coach in the near future. If not, all the better for UF and hopefully he can be happy here.

Will probably get sorted out in early, mid-July. Will keep you posted if I hear definitively how it’s going to work out.
