Parsons says he’s getting better
It appears that Florida senior forward Chandler Parsons is determined to play Sunday at LSU.
Parsons, who suffered a deep thigh bruise when he collided with teammate Alex Tyus last Saturday against Tennessee, just tweeted, “Leg is getting better, rehabbing three times a day to get ready for LSU. About to do some pool workouts.”
Parsons did not practice with the team on Thursday and remains day-to-day. His status for LSU will continue to be evaluated.
We’ll know more about Parsons and whether he’ll travel with the team when we speak to Florida coach Billy Donovan on Friday. Parsons, who played though most of the Tennessee game with the thigh bruise, has started 42 straight games dating back to last season.
Parsons, who played though most of last Saturday’s 61-60 win over the Vols with the thigh bruise, has made 42 straight starts dating back to last season. He’s averaging 10.8 points per game and ranks fourth in the Southeastern Conference in rebounding at 7.7 rebounds per game. Parsons also ranks eighth in the SEC in assists at 3.6 apg.

Kevin Brockway gave up on his dream of becoming a lefty starting pitcher for the New York Mets when he walked four straight batters, then hit one in a middle school game in Suffern, N.Y. Since graduating college in 1993, he’s worked as a sports writer at daily newspapers throughout the state of Florida, beginning with the Key West Citizen. He then moved on to the Northwest Florida Daily News and Naples Daily News before becoming the men’s basketball writer for The Gainesville Sun in 2003. Brockway has won multiple state and national writing awards during his 16-year career. Favorite pastimes include karaoke and watching baseball. Favorite college hoops team growing up was St. John’s.
Clocking in today, Kevin. Love the effort, thank you for keeping us informed.

They should maybe play him sparingly unless they really need him. This would be a good time for the frosh to step up.

Don’t push it too much Chandler!!! We need you fresh when its tourney time!!!! Go Gators!!!

Who would start in his place? Wilbekin? Prather? Murphy?

Parsons should rest for LSU since they are the worst SEC team left on our schedule before the SEC tourney. We will need him against Vandy, UGA and UK.

Why do I keep seeing comments about Patric Young returning to Florida next year? Are his grades poor? Is he looking to transfer?

There was an article on ESPN a while back (couple of weeks ago?) about how Patric Young is NBA ready and a 1st round pick if he left after this year. People have been up in arms about him going ever since then. He will be the next Donnell Harvey if he leaves after this year, he needs at least one more year. I dont see him going anyways, he seems dialed into all that is Billy Ball.

1. No game in the SEC is a gimme and we need a win at LSU to keep Vandy (in the East) and Bama (in the SEC) at bay. Have you noticed Chandler huddling the players after each game stoppage? He is a leader and we need his presence on the floor. Chandler has never had a problem not being fresh, if he’s up to it, they need him to play.
2. One of the articles on Young brought up a good, but scary point. Is it better to develop in college for free or develop in the NBA around better talent, while getting paid? If he gets drafted, he won’t be expected to impact the game right away. They will give him time to grow as a player. They would draft him for his upsides (size & athleticism). I only hope he loves UF enough to want to make his mark here before moving on. He wasn’t able to this year, but he’ll have a great chance next year. If UF only loses its seniors, I believe they will be hard to stop next year.

Young might be ready defensively to take the leap, but not offensively, IMO.
