Parsons on Tishman

by Kevin Brockway

Florida junior forward Chandler Parsons likes what he sees so far from Israeli point guard Nimrod Tishman.

In a video interview with Sun sports writer John Patton, Parsons said of 6-foot-5, 182-pound Tishman: “He’s really crafty and a really good passer. He’s going to help us out a lot.”

Tishman is now working out at the UF basketball facility and on scholarship, according to an athletic department source. But Tishman still needs to be cleared by the NCAA in order to compete in games. Florida’s exhibition opener is Nov. 2 against St. Leo University and its season opener is Nov. 15 against Stetson.

There is no specific timetable on when Tishman will be cleared. The NCAA said it gives preference to getting fall sports cases done first, then winter sports cases. The NCAA is looking into Tishman’s ties with the Maccabi Tel-Aviv club team and whether that association impacted his amateur status.

Thank you for the update Kevin. I have been wondering what his status is. Hopefully he will be ok’ed by the season for I think we will benefit from his contributions.

If he is cleared to play, is he good enough to start at PG so that walker can play SG?

Thanks for the info. It’s difficult to find much info on how the team is working out and shaping up for the upcoming season.
