More on Prather

by Kevin Brockway

Athletic swing-man Casey Prather committed to Florida on Wednesday, according to Scout.com.

The 6-foot-5, 189-pound prospect, rated as high as 55th nationally in the Class of 2010 according to some recruiting services, is considered an athletic defender in the mold of former Gator swing-man Corey Brewer. Like Brewer, Prather is a Tennessee native, hailing from Jackson, Tenn.

Prather joins power forward Patric Young as the second member of UF’s 2010 class. Florida coach Billy Donovan also visited point guard Brandon Knight, the top overall prospect in the Class of 2010, earlier this month. Knight, a Fort Lauderdale-area native, has received a scholarship offer from the Gators.

Great get this I think. Looks like Billy is trying to get some defense back into the game, Kevin. really excited about this team and the next few years.

Billy seems to be doing a GREAT job recruting. I am pleased at this committment. However, Rivers is being recrutied hard by Duke, and we cannot afford to lose him.

Coach needs to use his magic dust to reel in Rivers and Knight and the 7′ DeMilo. Then we can start talking about the 10’s and leave the 04’s alone. The loss of Stacey Poole Jr is most likely due to academics being easier at UK than at UF. Poole’s HS is academically challenged.

    David,
Poole’s commitment to UK instead of Florida had nothing to do w/academics. It was just the Florida coaching staff felt Prather was a better fit for their system (pick-and-roll/defense, etc.) Poole is a spotty shooter. Prather also isn’t great from the perimeter, but I think the UF coaching staff sees more of an upside with him.

From my understanding Austin is just looking around. But, the bottom line is he does not want to get to far away from his Mom…she wants to have the opportuniuty of catching his games in person. I think he is still a Florida guy all the way. I here thats where she wants him to be and she has an influence on him of course.
