Coaches honor Calathes

Florida freshman guard Nick Calathes was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ District 6 first team on Thursday.
Joining Calathes were forward/center Richard Hendrix of Alabama, point guard Jamont Gordon of Mississippi State, Alabama-Birmingham forward Robert Vaden and South Alabama guard Demetric Bennett.
Calathes leads Florida in scoring at 15.9 points per game and leads the Southeastern Conference in assists at 6.1 per game.
District 6 covers the states of Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama.
